What You Need to Know About Your Wellness Journey

Guiding you every step of the way toward better health

Appointment FAQs

Getting started is easy—and designed to help you feel supported right from the beginning. All new patients begin with a consultation where you’ll have the opportunity to share your health story, current concerns, and wellness goals. This appointment helps determine if our practice is the right fit for you and outlines the next steps toward your personalized treatment plan.

From there, Dr. Brian typically recommends a Comprehensive Health Assessment, lab work, and an in-depth report that maps out your path to optimal health.

For a deeper look at what to expect, visit our How It Works page, and for details on pricing, check out our Cost of Services page.

Yes! Everyone starts with an initial consultation with Dr. Brian. It gives him the opportunity to get to know you, understand your health story, and make preliminary recommendations for lab testing and next steps tailored to your goals.

Preparing for your appointments is simple! You will receive a guide walking you through every step of the way. Initially, please complete all required forms in your patient portal before your consultation appointment. You’re also welcome to upload or email any recent lab results before your consult so Dr. Brian can review them ahead of time.

If Dr. Brian requests additional information, you can easily share it through your portal’s message center or email it before your next appointment. We want your experience to be seamless, organized, and stress‑free!

Of course! We know that video isn’t always convenient—whether technology isn’t cooperating or you’ve got a busy day (or little ones) at home. Whatever the reason, we’re happy to make it easy for you by doing your virtual appointment over the phone instead of video. Your comfort and convenience always come first!

Dr. Brian currently offers virtual wellness care, making it easy to connect from wherever you are! While in‑person visits aren’t available at this time, our virtual appointments provide the same personalized, attentive care—so you can reach your health goals from the comfort of home.

Absolutely! Our patient system allows you to adjust our schedule availability to your local time zone, making it easy to schedule your appointment from anywhere in the world. If you don’t see an available time that works for you, no problem—just give us a call at 864‑406‑3300, and our team will be happy to help you find a spot that fits your schedule!

Our bodies are wonderfully interconnected, and it’s impossible to list every symptom that can improve through functional wellness care. When one system in the body starts to heal, the others often follow—creating positive, whole‑body results.

The best way to find out how we can help is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Brian, where you can discuss your specific concerns and discover if our approach is the right fit for you.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you—it’s your dedicated time to focus on your wellness! If you need to cancel or reschedule, we kindly ask for at least 1 hour’s notice so another patient can use that time for their care.

If we receive less than 1 hour’s notice, or if an appointment is missed, a cancellation fee of half the visit price will be charged to the card on file. Your courtesy helps us stay focused on what matters most—your continued progress and wellness!

Labs FAQs

Nope! Dr. Brian will make preliminary lab recommendations after your initial consultation so you have a clear idea of potential testing options, estimated costs, and what may be most relevant for your case. Once you’ve completed your intake forms and he’s reviewed your detailed health history during the Comprehensive Health Assessment, he’ll provide final testing recommendations and pricing. This ensures that your lab plan is accurate, targeted, and personalized to your specific needs.

Because lab processing times and scheduling can vary, we recommend having labs drawn at least 14 days before your Report appointment. This allows results to be received and reviewed in time, ensuring your Report includes complete, up‑to‑date information.

Blood labs are completed at any Labcorp location nationwide. Our office will order the labs for you and send you an order (requisition) form after your Comprehensive Health Assessment. Simply print the form and bring it to your preferred Labcorp site for your blood draw. Once completed, Labcorp sends the results directly to our office.

For all other types of lab testing, at‑home test kits will be ordered by Dr. Brian and shipped right to you for self‑collection. Just like your blood work, those results are sent securely and directly back to us for review.

Medical insurance typically does not cover the Functional Wellness Care services provided in our office. Many patients have asked their medical doctor to order the labs Dr. Brian uses for his comprehensive evaluation. While some doctors may agree to order a few (or all) of the required markers, it’s not guaranteed that your insurance will cover them—and in our experience, they rarely do. Often, only a small portion of the labs are approved, leaving patients responsible for the remaining balance. Unfortunately, this can result in unexpected bills—sometimes totaling thousands of dollars—for tests your insurance company doesn’t consider “necessary.” These bills are much higher than the cost of completing your labs directly through our office.

Absolutely! Previously drawn labs can be a great starting point and help Dr. Brian better understand your health timeline. However, it’s fairly uncommon for past lab work to include all the details needed for a full functional wellness assessment.

We encourage you to send any recent lab results before your consultation—either by email or through your patient portal message center. Labs over a year old may not be current enough to provide helpful insights, but you can always review both past and future lab options with Dr. Brian during your appointment.

We partner with lab co‑ops and ordering platforms that serve thousands of doctors each day. This large network creates collective bargaining power, allowing us to secure significantly lower lab costs and pass those savings on to you.

If we believe a test can be done more cost‑effectively—or billed through insurance—by your medical doctor, we’ll always recommend that option. No matter where your labs are completed, Dr. Brian will use optimal lab ranges and a whole‑body approach to interpret the results and integrate them into your comprehensive health plan.

Your results are thoughtfully reviewed and combined with everything we learn during your consultation and comprehensive health assessment. Dr. Brian will go over your labs in detail during your in-depth Patient Report, explaining what each result means in the context of your health story.

At that time, you’ll receive copies of your lab results along with your functional lab ranges so you can clearly see how your body is functioning—without the frustration of endless online “normal range” searching!

Cost FAQs

We focus on providing true wellness care—not just sick care—which means our approach goes beyond what traditional insurance covers. Because insurance doesn’t include Functional Wellness Care, Dr. Brian can create a plan that’s entirely personalized, comprehensive, and proactive—designed around your unique needs and health goals.

And the best part? Insurance companies don’t dictate your care plan. Every recommendation is based on what will help you feel and function your best—not what’s limited by coverage rules.

Great news—most HSAs and FSAs cover preventative health care! That means you can often use these funds toward your functional wellness visits and services. We always recommend checking with your provider to confirm which expenses are eligible, but in most cases, it’s a simple and convenient way to invest in your health.

Because every patient’s needs are unique, lab costs vary depending on each individual case. During your required consultation, Dr. Brian will review your health history and goals to determine which, if any, lab testing will likely be necessary so you can get an init.

Once all of your information has been completely gathered at the end of the Comprehensive Health Assessment, he’ll provide final testing recommendations and pricing. This personalized approach ensures you only pay for the labs that truly support your wellness goals.

Keeping a card on file makes your visits and purchases seamless—no extra steps, just simple checkout and stress‑free scheduling! Your card is securely encrypted in our patient portal, meaning we can’t see your full card details—only enough to identify which card you’re using.

Your stored card may be used for appointments, services, products, or missed‑visit fees according to our cancellation policy. You can easily update your payment information anytime through your patient portal.

Dr. Brian FAQs

No—only medical doctors can prescribe medications. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Brian focuses on addressing the root causes of health issues through functional medicine, lifestyle, and nutritional support rather than prescription drugs. However, he is happy to collaborate with your medical doctor when medication is necessary to ensure your care is safe, coordinated, and effective.

Therapeutic Nutrition FAQs

Absolutely! Functional Wellness Care is designed to enhance your overall health—whether or not you’re currently taking medication. Our goal is to support your body’s natural ability to heal, restore balance, and function at its best. No matter where you are on your wellness journey, Dr. Brian will meet you right where you are and create a personalized plan to help you move toward your health goals with confidence and clarity.

What you put in your body has a powerful impact on how you feel—and how you heal! If you’re dealing with health challenges, small shifts in your diet can make a big difference. By identifying and reducing foods that may be triggering your symptoms, we can help calm your system and create the right environment for true healing.

These changes aren’t always permanent—some people discover a new way of eating that makes them feel amazing and stick with it, while others simply make small, flexible adjustments as their health evolves. Either way, nourishing your body well is one of the most effective tools for long-term wellness and achieving your health goals.

Not always. Unfortunately, many counterfeit or low‑quality supplements are sold through online marketplaces—especially on sites like Amazon. We frequently receive alerts from our trusted supplement partners about fake or improperly labeled products circulating online. To ensure you’re getting authentic, provider‑grade quality, it’s always best to purchase from verified, reputable sources. We only recommend high‑quality products from trusted suppliers we’ve reviewed ourselves. Visit our Products Page to learn more and see where we recommend buying your supplements safely.

Possibly! It depends on where they came from and their overall quality. Important things to consider include expiration dates, how long the supplements have been opened and exposed to air, and whether the ingredients listed are accurate and verifiable. Higher‑quality supplements tend to deliver more consistent and reliable results, so if you’re unsure about what you’re currently taking, Dr. Brian can review them with you and recommend the best path forward.

We recommend ordering through our online Fullscript dispensary, where every product meets the highest standards for safety and quality. Fullscript is backed by a clinically led, third‑party‑validated quality program that carefully audits each step—from sourcing and manufacturing to storage and delivery—so you can trust what you’re putting into your body. Access Dr. Brian’s Fullscript dispensary here or on their mobile app.
